    Groton police charge four in driving under the influence spot check

    Groton Town police charged four people with driving while under the influence late last week during an overnight patrol aimed at stopping drunk drivers.

    Police arrested Christopher Prada, 21, of 50 Palmer St., Norwich and charged him Friday night with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving without a license and possession of marijuana.

    Karen O’Connell, 61, of 18 Norman Drive, Gales Ferry and John Scarpini, 33, of Moodus, were each charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in separate arrests early Saturday morning.

    Police also charged Christopher Lathrop, 36, of Griswold on Saturday with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and driving without a license.
