    State parks fill up quickly on holiday weekend

    HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Several Connecticut state parks quickly reached capacity over the July Fourth weekend.

    The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection announced Monday that a handful of parks were closed to new vehicles, including Quaddick Lake, in Thompson; Burr Pond, in Torrington; Rocky Neck, in East Lyme; and Gardiner Lake, in Salem.

    Several parks were also closed on Sunday after reaching capacity.
