Sunflowers for Wishes opens at Buttonwood Farms in Griswold Saturday
Sunflowers for Wishes at Buttonwood Farm in Griswold, an annual benefit for Make-A-Wish Connecticut, will open Saturday and run through July 31.
Last year the event raised more than $190,000, for a total of more than $1 million over the past 12 years.
As part of the 13th annual Sunflowers for Wishes, Buttonwood Farm will be selling bouquets and offering hayrides to guests from 10 a.m. to dusk daily.
Tonight, in advance of the public opening, Make-A-Wish representatives will join the Button family and volunteers who make the event possible to celebrate their support and to thank them.
Two young people who have had their wishes granted will attend.
Kaycee, 11, of Sterling recently went to Walt Disney World; and Sydney, 15, of Uncasville celebrated her 13th birthday two years ago with a party at the Uncas Ballroom at Mohegan Sun.
This year is the 30th anniversary of the Connecticut Make-A-Wish chapter.
