The Connecticut Association of Realtors has endorsed Republican Heather Somers in her bid for the 18th District state Senate seat. 

"We carefully evaluate candidates in determining who may best ensure there is a positive environment for living in or transferring property in Connecticut," CT Realtors President Michael O. Feldman said in a press release. "Real estate is essential to economic recovery and stability in the state and the nation, and helps to build communities."

The association represents more than 16,000 real estate professionals, including real estate agents, brokers and others, according to its website.

"I couldn't be more thrilled to have the support of the CT REALTORS," said Somers in the release. "The organization represents agents who help families' dreams become reality, small businesses that contribute to our local communities and an industry that is crucial to Connecticut's success."

In addition to the Realtors, Somers has been endorsed by the Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA), the state's largest pro-business organization, and more than 24 current and former local leaders.
