Mystic Depot reopening as a cafe

Mystic Depot Roasters is holding a grand opening at 3 p.m. Friday in the Mystic Depot Amtrak station.

The historic building, which Amtrak closed in March 2015, will be rebranded as a café, gift shop, ticketing and welcome center.

"The station serves over 23,000 passengers each year as a commuter station to both north and southbound passengers," according to a release from the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce.

DBC Investments owners Sherrie and David Crompton and Amtrak signed an agreement in July to revitalize the train station. It has since been renovated with new plumbing, redone interior, modern restrooms and nostalgia.
