Reliance House is now Reliance Health

Norwich – Reliance House, a long-time Norwich-based nonprofit agency that serves people with mental illness, announced Monday it has changed its name to Reliance Health as part of a long-planned effort to “better connect the agency's name with the services it provides,” according to a press release announcing the change.

Reliance Health’s CEO, David Burnett said the timing of the name change was fitting.

“As Reliance House enters our new incarnation as Reliance Health we have opened a new outpatient clinic,” Burnett said in the press release. “In addition, we have been recognized as Connecticut’s second best-midsized workplace, with special recognition for Outstanding Managers, and we are celebrating our 40th year of serving the community.”

Reliance House opened in 1976 as a drop-in center for adults transitioning out of the Norwich Hospital, and now the agency serves 1,000 individuals a year through more than 30 programs and employs close to 300 staff.

In addition to residential programming, Reliance Health provides social clubhouses, homeless outreach services, community case management, supported education, and employment services. This past year, Reliance Health also began providing outpatient clinical services, offering individual and group therapy as well as medication oversight. Additionally, the agency provides education to the community through events, training, and consultation with individuals and businesses alike.
