New London man faces murder charge in Puerto Rico
New London — A New London man is facing a murder charge in Puerto Rico after being arrested at Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center on Sept. 28.
Christian Candelaria Feliciano, 30, of 35 Summer St., New London, was charged with being a fugitive from justice from Puerto Rico. His bond was set at $1 million.
According to Primera Hora, a Puerto Rican news outlet, Candelaria Feliciano and Joel Rodriguez Mendez are accused of killing María N. Ramos Caro, 66, of Rincón on March 27, 2013.
Police said the pair entered her apartment and kidnapped her. Her charred remains were found a month later in the adjacent town of Guayabo. Police said Ramos Caro died of blunt force head trauma.
Rodriguez Mendez is in custody in Florida on an unrelated criminal charges, the Primera Hora report said.
Candelaria Feliciano was arrested by New London police in 2014 on burglary charges and sentenced to two years in prison.
Police re-arrested him at Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center in Uncasville.
