State Rep. Diana Urban, D-North Stonington, will participate Thursday in a panel discussion about childhood concussions at the Women in Government Foundation's Healthcare Summit in Washington, D.C.

The discussion is titled "The True Impact of Concussions." Panel members will discuss the risks and effects of concussions,  including long-term damage caused by repeated concussions and the dangers of children returning to the playing field before a concussion has fully healed. The panel also will discuss current prevention efforts.

Urban will share the state's legislative efforts to combat concussions, including more training for youth athletic coaches.
