Stonington Beautification Committee tackles weekend projects

Stonington -- The town’s Beautification Committee had a busy weekend sprucing up sites in both downtown Pawcatuck and Mystic.

On Saturday, committee members planted boxwoods and bulbs at the Civil War monument on East Main Street near the CVS. On Saturday, Eric Beverly of Cedar Ridge Landscaping planted a holiday tree he donated in Veterans’ Park in downtown Pawcatuck by the bridge. The town Public Works Department is now scheduled to put lights on it as well as the gazebo in the park behind CC O’Brien’s.

The committee also placed holiday greens in the new flower boxes on the Pawcatuck River Bridge.

The committee, which was formed earlier this year, has also improved the landscaping at the Mystic train station and organized the clean up of school grounds.
