Groton police make arrest in sale of fake tickets on Craigslist
Groton — Police arrested a man Friday evening as part of an investigation into fake concert tickets that were posted to Craigslist.
The department received several reports of fake tickets to area shows at the casinos. An undercover detective, posing as a potential buyer, met a suspect at a location in town and attempted to purchase a fake ticket.
Police said when the officers identified themselves, the man, Fred Lyons, 23, of 101 W. 104th St., New York, N.Y., pushed one officer aside and tried to run away.
He was apprehended and one officer was treated for minor injuries during the confrontation.
The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible, police said.
Lyons was charged with third-degree forgery, third-degree conspiracy to commit larceny, two counts of interfering with a police officer and assault on a police officer. He was being held Saturday on a $50,000 bond.
