Montville Parks and Recreation announce winners in holiday parade

Montville — The Chesterfield Fire Company had the most festive firetruck. Montville Recycling was the most creative. Montville High School band was the best musical group.

The Montville Parks and Recreation Department announced the winners in eight categories from the town’s holiday parade Sunday. The parade along Route 32 featured 29 floats, including one built by Parks and Recreation Commission members that commemorated the 100th anniversary of the Naval Submarine Base and featured a 30-foot steel profile of a submarine decorated in lights and an American flag from the USS Augusta, according to Parks and Recreation Director Peter Bushway.

The parade was organized by the town Parks and Recreation Department, the Parks and Recreation Commission and the Montville Lions Club.

Other winners included the best costumed float: the Montville Girl Scouts and Brownies; the best business float: Oakdale Kids Center, and the best lighting display: B&D Auto Body.
