Make a Difference: Jewish Federation of Eastern Connecticut
Who: Michelle and Dan, parents of two children, Trisha, 6, and Jimmy, 10.
Agency: Jewish Federation of Eastern Connecticut
Their situation: Both parents were employed until Dan was laid off from his job at the beginning of November. While he will receive unemployment and Michelle works 30 hours per week, they will have to be very careful to stretch those dollars to continue to pay for rent, utilities, food, cable and other household items. They will not be able to set aside money for Christmas presents.
What to give: Gift cards to Wal-Mart, Target, Stop & Shop or Shop-Rite will help provide Christmas items and basic needs for Michelle, Dan, Trisha and Jimmy.
To donate: Mail or drop off gift cards to JFEC, 28 Channing St., New London, CT 06320. If you don't have time to purchase a gift card, send a check (made payable to JFEC) and the agency will be happy to purchase the gift card. For more information, call (860) 442-8062 and ask for Mimi.
