Mashantuckets' 2016 fundraising campaign raised more than $140,000

Mashantucket — The Mashantucket Pequot Tribe and the tribe-owned Foxwoods Resort Casino raised more than $140,000 during the tribe’s 2016 fundraising campaign, an annual effort that benefits those in need.

The United Way of Southeastern Connecticut and its partner agencies and the Foxwoods’ Employee Emergency Assistance Fund received $108,251 and $33,433, respectively.

In addition, Foxwoods’ fourth annual Stuff the Bus campaign collected more than 15,000 new, unwrapped children’s toys, blankets, winter coats and other essentials for the United Way’s Tommy Toy Fund program.

“We are humbled to aid local organizations with missions to help those who need it most, and are grateful for the generosity of our team members, guests and community members who have made this year’s collective contribution possible,” Rodney Butler, the tribe’s chairman, said in a statement.

The Employee Emergency Assistance Fund was created by the tribe and Foxwoods to help eligible Foxwoods employees facing unexpected personal financial crises.
