Sherwood quartet swings into Groton's City Cabaret
Groton — The City Cabaret series continues with a 3 p.m. performance Sunday by Andy Sherwood's Dixieland Jazz Quartet.
Sherwood plays the clarinet and saxophone, and he developed a style influenced by Benny Goodman and Pete Fountain. Sherwood was a clarinetist for the U.S. Coast Guard Band for 24 years, before retiring in 2009. Joining him in his Dixieland jazz quartet are pianist Ian Frenkel, drummer Tom Briggs and bass player Bryan Rizzuto.
The concert takes place at the City of Groton Auditorium, 295 Meridian St., Groton. Admission is free.
