Ledyard seeking applicants for housing rehab loan program

Ledyard — The town is seeking low- and moderate-income residents looking to make home repairs to apply for its housing rehabilitation program.

The town's program has received money from the state Department of Housing since 2011 and so far has helped 40 homeowners make repairs with no-interest deferred loans.

However the town needs to have applications for the program in hand in order to apply for state funding, according to a letter from Town Planner Charles Karno, and without proof of that demand the town will not be eligible. Town officials are deciding whether or not to apply the week of March 3 and hope residents will come forward.

Eligible repairs include code compliance and lead remediation, energy conservation, electrical and plumbing work and other "non-luxury" home improvements, a brochure notes.

The income limits range from $46,100 for an individual to $86,900 for a household of eight. For more information, contact Karno at planner@ledyardct.org.
