Hygienic art residency program seeks artists

Working visual artists are being sought to apply for residency at the Hygienic Art building at 79 Bank St. in downtown New London.

    Application deadline is March 15.

Two live-in studio apartments will be available starting April 1 for an emerging artist looking for a place to live and work in an artist cooperative style environment, make art and be a part of the local art scene.

The Hygienic Resident Artists Cooperative was created to benefit artists by providing affordable studios, galleries and venues for exhibition and community outreach.

Resident artists must help the Hygienic Art Galleries and Art Park with 100 volunteer hours per year, have a solo exhibition every two years and participate in a residents’ group show yearly.

Applications are available during gallery hours or can be found online at hygienic.org. Applications and portfolios may be submitted at the Hygienic Gallery, 79 Bank St., New London CT 06320 and dropped off during open gallery hours or e-mailed to HygienicArt@gmail.com.
