Lyme-Old Lyme Schools announce new middle school principal

The Lyme-Old Lyme School district announced that Mark Ambruso has been appointed as the next principal of Lyme-Old Lyme Middle School.

Ambruso, who is the principal of Windham Technical High School, will begin his new position on July 1, according to a news release. He will replace Michelle Dean, who will begin as director of curriculum on July 1.

Ambruso previously has served as principal and, prior to that, assistant principal at Bacon Academy in Colchester, the news release states. He began his educational career as a science teacher and coach at Norwich Free Academy.

“We are pleased to welcome such an accomplished and seasoned administrator to our district," Superintendent Ian Neviaser said in a statement. "Throughout the entire interview process, Mr. Ambruso impressed us with his innate leadership skills and his strong commitment to his students. This appointment will allow us to continue on the successful path that has been established at Lyme-Old Lyme Middle School.”

The district said it has begun advertising for the position of Middle School assistant principal after Neil Sullivan announced his resignation effective June 30 to embark on new professional challenges. The district said high-quality applicants are encouraged to apply at www.region18.org.
