Deadline is Wednesday in Norwich dog license contest
Norwich — The deadline for Norwich dog owners to enter the annual drawing for dog license No. 1 is 10 a.m. Wednesday at the city clerk's office.
The annual contest is held to raise awareness that dog licenses must be renewed each year in June. Applications for dog licenses can be dropped off at the city clerk's office or sent by mail.
The drawing will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. City Clerk Betsy Barrett said Tuesday the office has received 265 applications thus far, the highest ever in the 17 years the office has run the contest.
Applications must include license fee — $8 for a spayed or neutered dog, $19 for dogs not spayed or neutered — proof of spaying or neutering and current rabies certification. Checks should be made payable to Norwich city clerk and sent to City clerk, 100 Broadway, Norwich, CT 06360.
