Firefighters extinguish fire at East Lyme home under construction
East Lyme — Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire Monday evening at a home under construction at 47 Partridge Court, which is in The Orchards subdivision.
Fire Marshal Richard Morris said building material had caught on fire on the second floor and in one of the valleys in the roof on the north side of the structure. He said a passer-by noticed the fire, and firefighters quickly brought the fire under control.
The cause of the fire, which occurred at around 6:38 p.m., remains under review, he said.
Flanders, Niantic and Old Saybrook Fire Departments, the East Lyme fire marshal's office, and the East Lyme police responded. An accelerant dog from the state police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit also responded, which is standard procedure, he said.
