Stonington — Police say that Taugwonk Road from Sommers Lane to Stony Brook Road is expected to be closed to through traffic until Wednesday morning after a truck pulled down a large section of low-hanging utility cable.

Residents who live in the closed section will be able to access their homes.

The cable that came down is located just south of the Stonington Country Club and just north of Exit 91 of Interstate 95. Police Capt. Todd Olson said the repairs are expected to last through the night. He said the truck thought to have taken down the cable did not remain at the scene.
