Sunset Hill Vineyard continues its commitment to local artists and charities with its Artist Series label, the first run of which earned $600 for the Lyme Art Association.

The first Artist Series label, a 2014 Cabernet Franc, featured “Selden’s Creek - end of day” by Leif Nilsson. He said he chose to benefit the Lyme Art Association because of its role as the birthplace of American impressionism, and his painting utilized the soft light favored by local impressionist painters.

“Growing up in Old Lyme I was not only surrounded by the landscapes painted by the American Impressionists, but also by their actual paintings which hung at the Florence Griswold House, the Town Hall, the Church and the Elementary School,” Nilsson said in a press release. He is also an elected artist with the association.

The second Artist Series label is a 2015 Cabernet Franc featuring artist Michael DesRosiers, who selected the Lyme Consolidated Elementary School Art Department as his charity. The winery donates $2 per bottle sold to the organization of choice.
