    Ledyard Republicans endorse candidates

Ledyard — The Republican Town Committee, at its caucus Tuesday night in Bill Library, endorsed candidates for upcoming municipal elections.

Incumbent Mayor Fred Allyn III, appointed to the position in May, received the committee's endorsement again, as did Town Council incumbents Kevin Dombrowski, Steve Eichelberg, Andra Ingalls, Tom Malone, John Marshall and Linda Davis, who currently serves as chairwoman of the council.

For seats on the Board of Education, current Chairman Anthony Favry was re-endorsed, as were incumbents Michael Brawner, Robert Guerrera and Jesse James.

Both long-serving school board member Stephen Shuttleworth, as well as Karen Butterworth-Erban, who was appointed to the board in the spring, informed the Republican Town Committee that they would not be seeking re-election prior to the caucus, said committee Chairman John Rodolico.

New candidates for those seats endorsed by the committee were Brittney Hedges and Camie Lozier.

Hedges is a Three Rivers Community College student who graduated from Ledyard High School in 2014. Lozier is the founder and director of the Ledyard Clothing Exchange, which provides clothing to children in need in the region.

Both impressed the nominating subcommittee during interviews, said Mike Cherry, who chairs the subcommittee.

The Democratic Town Committee endorsed candidates on Monday night.
