John and Margaret Skinner celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family and friends, on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, at the Norwich Inn and Spa.

Mr. and Mrs. Skinner were married Jan. 27, 1957, at the United Presbyterian Church, in Oneonta, N.Y. They both graduated from Oneonta High School in 1955. After graduation, John enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and Margaret attended Hartwick College in Oneonta.

Mr. Skinner retired in 1997 after working 37 years as an electronics technician for Electric Boat. Much of his job consisted of sea trials on newly built submarines as well as traveling to many places, at home and abroad, working on numerous submarines.

Margaret was employed by the Town of Montville as the assistant town clerk for 13 years, followed by 17 years as town clerk, retiring in 1997.

They are blessed to have three children, Steven Skinner (wife, Dawn) of Uncasville, Andrew Skinner (wife, Lynne) of Bozrah and Michael Skinner (wife, Nicole) of Minneapolis, Minn. They also have three granddaughters and two grandsons.

Most of their life together has been devoted to each other, family and friends.
