    'Tribute to America' program to be held Friday in Norwich

    Norwich — The 37th annual Norwich VFW "Tribute to America" program will take place on Aug. 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the historic Norwichtown Green. 

    The program will include participation by numerous color guards, state and local dignitaries, patriotic music and LTC Dawn Works-Dennis, who has served for 20 years in the Connecticut Army National Guard, as guest speaker. She is a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom and served as a platoon leader in Iraq. She is currently serving as the Deputy Construction and Facilities Management Officer for the more than 30 National Guard properties throughout the state.

    Everyone is welcome to attend the tribute. In the event of inclement weather, the program will take place at the Richard E. Hourigan VFW Post 594 Home, 30 Connecticut Ave., in Norwich. For additional information, call the post at (860) 892-1400.
