"Sunday Night With Megyn Kelly"

If you tuned in late to the debut of Megyn Kelly's new show, you likely thought you were watching "60 Minutes." The subject matter — interview with a world leader (Putin) and segments on an unethical Big Pharma company and a woman who is trying to save elephants from extinction — mimicked the fare of the esteemed TV newsmagazine. The only thing missing was the ticking clock. The show deserves credit for landing Putin, but while Kelly's questions of the Russian president could be viewed as "tough," they were unimaginative and thus yielded predictable answers. In going head to head with "60 Minutes" on Sunday, NBC has adopted the business model of building a Burger King next to a McDonald's, and counting on the former Fox News personality to be the difference maker. That $15 million gamble is unlikely to pay off.
