Movie tip: "Logan Lucky" is lesser Soderbergh

    Logan Lucky

    Movie tip

    Logan Lucky

You could think of “Logan Lucky” as a down-market “Ocean’s Eleven,” but you could also describe it as a B-grade Coen Brothers movie. It’s not by the Coens, though; it’s Steven Soderbergh’s latest, and it’s not exactly prime Soderbergh. “Logan Lucky” will keep your attention for two hours, sure, but the script falls into lazy clichés, and the whole enterprise tends to view the blue-collar West Virginians depicted with what too often feels like disdain. In this comedy, a down-on-his-luck laborer (Channing Tatum) teams up with relatives and rogues to rob the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Best-in-cast awards go to a laconic Adam Driver as Tatum’s brother and Daniel Craig as a live-wire con.
