Police confirm identity of man found buried under Rhode Island house deck

Burrillville, R.I. — Police in Rhode Island have confirmed that a body discovered under several inches of cement outside a home this week is a Massachusetts man missing for almost a month.

WPRI-TV reports Burrillville Police Chief Stephen Lynch announced Saturday afternoon that the body has been identified as 60-year-old Domingo Ortiz of Worcester.

Police found Ortiz's body Friday buried beneath a newly constructed deck at a Burrillville home where he was last seen May 5. Police were investigating it as a missing-person case. Lynch says there will be a homicide investigation.

The Telegram & Gazette of Worcester reported Ortiz's body was found after a second search warrant was served at the home. The first search took place May 21. Police have said Ortiz was associated with people who live at the house, which is secluded by heavy woods.
