Police looking for truck that drove on pedestrian bridge in Willimantic

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. (AP) — Police say someone drove a pickup truck on a pedestrian bridge in Willimantic, slightly injuring one person and forcing others to jump out of the way.

Police said the truck went off Main Street around 8 p.m. Saturday and onto the Garden on the Bridge walkway. One person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Several other people, including a small child, had to jump out of the way to avoid being struck.

Police said the older-model white Ford pickup then struck a fence protecting an electrical box and clipped a light pole before getting back onto Route 32 headed south.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact investigators.
