More sex abuse by United Nations troops alleged in C. African Republic

UNITED NATIONS — A human rights group alleges that at least eight women and girls were raped or sexually exploited by U.N. peacekeepers in the last three months of 2015 in Central African Republic, the latest in a series of similar cases there.

Human Rights Watch said Thursday that a 14-year-old and an 18-year-old said peacekeepers gang-raped them near the airport in Bambari, the country's second-largest city.

The U.N. peacekeeping mission in Central African Republic says it has identified seven new possible victims in cases brought to its attention by Human Rights Watch.

The mission says the soldiers implicated in the cases are from Congo and the Republic of Congo.

The U.N. says 120 Republic of Congo soldiers in Bambari will be repatriated.
