Police seek ID of woman whose body was found on roadside in Colchester
State police are seeking the identity of a female homicide victim whose body was discovered on the side of the road Wednesday in Colchester.
A state police news release said the cause of the woman’s death will be determined by the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner but initial findings from the police investigation led to a determination of homicide.
The woman's body was discovered at 5:05 p.m. on the side of the road at the intersection of Cato Corner Road and Pine Street in Colchester. State troopers from Troop K in Colchester were the first responders at the scene and conducted a search of the area for other potential victims but found none.
Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Squad have taken over the investigation.
The victim is described as a white female, 25 to 35 years old, with dark hair that had been dyed red. The woman has multiple facial piercings. She also has a tattoo on her left bicep that reads “Jayden” and a tattoo on her right bicep that reads “Nicole” with a butterfly underneath the name.
