Groton – The U.S. Naval Submarine Base was placed in lockdown briefly Saturday morning after a report of “suspicious vehicle activity” near the main gate on Route 12.
Local authorities were notified of the incident, which occurred at 11:55 a.m., and Gate 1 was restricted to outgoing traffic only during the investigation.
Base safety and security teams determined there was no actual threat and the base was reopened to normal traffic, officials reported on the sub base’s Facebook page.
