    Police investigate drive-by shooting in Willimantic

    Willimantic — Police are investigating a drive-by shooting in the area of Windham Hospital, where police say they received numerous reports of multiple shots fired.

    Police said no injuries were reported even though two pedestrians were walking on the adjacent sidewalk at the time of the shooting.

    The 911 calls started at 3:30 p.m. with witnesses reporting shots being fired from a passing vehicle on Valley Street near the rear entrance to Windham Hospital.

    The nearby Windham/Willimantic Early Childhood Development Center was placed in an hour-long security lockdown by their administrative staff, according to a press statement from Willimantic Police Cpl. Stanley F. Parizo Jr.

    The Willimantic Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division collected numerous spent shell casings at the scene as part of its investigation.
