Norwich man injured after fireworks explode in his hand

Norwich – An 18-year-old man was injured Tuesday after a “large scale” firework exploded in his hand, police said.
The incident occurred at 7:23 p.m. at 90 Summit St. James Marnie, a resident at the home, was taken by ambulance to The William W. Backus Hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.
Police later cited Marnie for possession of fireworks/explosive device.
Norwich police Sgt. John Perry issued a warning reminding residents that fireworks are not only illegal but can be dangerous, as evidenced by Tuesday’s incident.
