Washington bound Amtrak train stalls in Groton

Groton – Passengers from a stalled Amtrak Acela train were transferred to a different train on Monday night after it stalled in the West Mystic area.

Train No. 2175, headed from Boston to Washington, stopped due to an overhead power issue, according Amtrak spokeswoman Christina E. Leeds. Passengers were transferred to train No. 177, with a diesel locomotive, and were reported on the move at 9:15 p.m.

It is unclear how long the 187 passengers were waiting aboard the stalled train.
