East Lyme — A 55-year-old Uncasville man died Sunday following a three-vehicle crash near 128 North Bride Brook Road.

East Lyme police responded to the noontime crash that killed John Williams of 33 Joy Lane, Uncasville.

Police said a Lincoln MKX driven by Stephen Woods, 32, of 47 Roxbury Court, Niantic, was traveling north on North Bride Brook Road when Williams, who was on a motorcycle and traveling south, crossed the double yellow line and hit the northbound SUV. Another motorcycle, also southbound and ridden by Mark Bass, 31, of 31 Starr St., New London, then struck Williams' motorcycle.

Woods and his passenger, Rachel Woods, 28, also of Niantic, were not injured, but the two motorcycle operators were transported to hospitals. Williams went to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, where he died a few hours later. Bass was taken to The William W. Backus Hospital, where he was being treated for injuries to his lower extremities, according to a police report.

The East Lyme Police Department, with assistance from Connecticut State Police, are conducting an investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call East Lyme police at (860) 739-5900.
