Two seriously injured in Ledyard accident
Ledyard — Two people were seriously injured Wednesday in a head-on collision that occurred on Whalehead Road.
Police said Arthur Lipman, 72, of 43 Silas Deane Road, Ledyard, was traveling north on Whalehead Road when his vehicle traveled into the southbound lane, striking a car driven by Marianne Brumfield, 50, of 39 Ash Drive, Gales Ferry, head-on.
The accident was reported at 6 p.m.
Police said both drivers sustained serious injuries. Lipman was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital while Brumfield was taken to the William W. Backus Hospital.
Police said Brumfield was then flown by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital.
Lipman was listed in good condition Thursday morning at L+M. Brumfield was listed in stable condition.
The accident remains under investigation.
