Groton Town police charge man in Subway robbery
Groton – Town police arrested a New London man Monday on charges he robbed a Subway restaurant and made his getaway in a taxi.
Ted J. Woodhouse, 25, of no certain address, was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree threatening, sixth-degree larceny, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The robbery occurred at 9:28 a.m. at the Subway at 282 Route 12 when a man walked into the store, handed an employee a note and demanded money, according to Groton Town Police Lt. James Bee.
The man fled on foot south on North Pleasant Valley Road with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was injured, police said.
Groton Town police officers searched the area and interviewed witnesses, calling on assistance from state police in Montville, New London police and a K-9 unit from the Westerly Police Department.
During the investigation, police learned that a subject matching the description of the suspect left the area in a taxi. Woodhouse was tracked to New London, where he was taken into custody.
Woodhouse was held on a $10,000 bond and is slated to appear Tuesday in New London Superior Court.
