Megos case continued as court anticipates new warrant

New London — The state’s attorney’s office on Tuesday opted not to prosecute six probation violation charges against Zane Megos, a Norwich business man convicted last year of taking deposits for apartments in Norwich and New London that never became available, were condemned or that he did not own.

Judge Patrick McMahon agreed to “nolle” the six counts at the request of Assistant State’s Attorney Rafael Bustamante.

No explanation was given in court but McMahon indicated another arrest warrant against Megos is pending.

In 2014 Megos was convicted of six fourth-degree larceny charges in connection with separate instances in which he took deposits from victims.

He was arrested again in August after a woman claimed Megos used his business partner’s name in taking deposits for a Norwich apartment that was condemned.

He has pleaded not guilty to charges associated with an attempted larceny and forgery case and minor motor vehicle and drug possession charges.

The case was continued to Nov. 3.
