    New London police arrest Colorado man accused of sexually assaulting teen he met online

    Nathaniel Smith was charged by New London Police with second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor after he allegedly had sexual contact with a 13-year-old.

    New London — Police have charged a 29-year-old Colorado man with second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor after he allegedly had sexual contact with a 13-year-old whom he met through the social media application “Kik.”

    On Monday night, state police alerted the New London Police Department that a 13-year-old female, who was reportedly missing from Preston, had been located at the Holiday Inn, 35 Governor Winthrop Boulevard.

    The 13-year-old was reported to be in the company of Nathaniel P. Smith, 29, of 14844 E. Greenwood Place, Aurora, Colo., who had traveled from Aurora to visit the juvenile and return back to Colorado with her. 

    Additional police investigation determined that Smith engaged in sexual contact with the 13-year-old within New London.

    This is an active investigation.
