Police: 15-year-old charged with assault after stabbing teen
East Lyme — A 15-year-old juvenile was taken into custody without incident Thursday after town police obtained an arrest warrant in the stabbing of a 16-year-old.
The 15-year-old was charged with first-degree assault and first-degree reckless endangerment and, after posting a $50,000 bond, was scheduled to appear Wednesday in Juvenile Court in Waterford.
The victim sustained "serious but non-life threatening injuries," police said.
The arrest was made at about 1:45 p.m. Thursday.
The charges stemmed from "a physical altercation that escalated to where the 15-year-old assaulted another 16-year-old with a knife," police said.
Police do not release the names of juveniles charged with crimes.
