East Lyme superintendent informs parents about April Fools' Day threat

East Lyme — Superintendent of Schools Jeffrey Newton informed parents and guardians of East Lyme High School students that "a high school student allegedly made a threatening comment specific to East Lyme High School, which was associated with April Fools' Day."

He said in the notice that it was brought to the attention of administrators on Thursday afternoon.

"We take any and all threats seriously and reported this immediately to the police. The police are involved and have investigated the matter with the student," Newton wrote in a notice to the high school community on Thursday.

"We wanted to inform you of this situation and assure you that the school is safe and the issue has been addressed. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact ELHS Principal Mike Susi or the superintendent’s office," he said in the note.
