Norwich police remind residents to safely dispose of unused medications

Norwich — Police are encouraging residents to make cleaning out their medicine cabinets a part of their spring cleaning routine by bringing it to a drop box located in the lobby of Norwich Police Department headquarters.

Improperly disposed medication that is flushed down the toilet can impact the drinking water supply, and abuse of prescription drugs can lead to theft of medication that is not stored properly.

Drop boxes are a safe and confidential way of disposing of prescription drugs.

The Norwich Police Department's prescription drug drop box was obtained through a partnership with the Norwich Youth and Family Services, the Norwich Prevention Council, and the Southeastern Region Prevention Council.

It is available 24 hours a day in the lobby of the police department's headquarters at 70 Thames Street, Norwich.
