Police: Six overdoses, including one death, in East Lyme in first days of April

Editor's note: This version corrects the location of the overdose that happened near Lyme Tavern.

East Lyme — Police on Monday said they've responded to four incidents involving drug overdoses so far this month, including a triple overdose at a Main Street apartment Saturday morning that resulted in one death.

The other three incidents, which occurred at the Morton House, a residential address on West Main Street and the rear parking lot of Lyme Tavern, each involved one overdose, according to police.

Police said emergency medical service personnel administered Narcan to all six individuals.

Police said they don't have information on the narcotics that contributed to the overdoses but know three of the overdoses were not heroin-related. All three individuals involved in the triple overdose had used benzodiazepine, an anxiety medication similar to Xanax, police said.
