Alleged drunken driver arrested for comment about setting fire to Stonington police station
Stonington — A Pawtucket, R.I., woman was arrested Tuesday morning when she made a comment about setting the police department on fire just minutes after being released following a drunken driving arrest a few hours earlier, according to police.
Amanda J. Alix, 31, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, breach of peace, failure to submit to fingerprinting and littering.
At 1:05 a.m., police said they received a report of a woman crying on North Road in Old Mystic. Officers located Alix, who they said was lost and had pulled over to use her cellphone. They said she was slurring her speech and smelled of alcohol. She was taken into custody after failing field sobriety tests.
Police said that when Alix was released from custody at 7 a.m. on a $1,000 bond, she caused a disturbance in the police station lobby. They said she shouted profanities at police dispatchers, tore up paperwork and then made a comment about setting the station on fire.
She then was arrested again and held on a $2,500 bond.
