New London man charged with DUI after crashing into stone wall

Waterford — A New London man has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs after he crashed the car he was driving into a stone wall off of Great Neck Road on Tuesday night.

Alex D. Kamakani, 26, of 239 Nautilus Drive, New London, also was charged with driving without insurance, driving with a suspended license and failure to drive in the proper lane.

Police said Kamakani was not injured in the crash, which occurred about 8:48 p.m. between 235 and 237 Great Neck Road, and that he was under the influence of alcohol, not drugs.
