UPDATED: Groton City police find body of woman missing since Monday

Groton — Groton City police detectives have found the body of a woman missing since Monday, police Chief Thomas Davoren said.

Police issued a Silver Alert for 51-year-old Jacqueline Isaacs at 8:19 p.m. Tuesday after a friend said she'd been missing since Monday.

"We were concerned that she might come to harm so we searched the evening of Aug. 9 and throughout the day yesterday, the Birch Plain Creek area which is down below Branford Manor," Davoren said.

Isaacs lived in Branford Manor, a large subsidized housing complex in the city. State police search-and-rescue canines assisted in the search, Davoren said.

"We had state police search-and-rescue dogs with us, and in the torrential rain the search moved over to the Spicer property," he said.

Isaacs was found in the woods on the old Spicer Tree Farm shortly before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Silver Alert was canceled shortly after.

On Thursday afternoon, a spokeswoman at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said an autopsy had been performed but the cause of Isaacs' death was "pending further study."

Isaacs was the mother of three sons, including one who is serving in the U.S. Army.
