Norwich firefighters extinguish fire in downtown building

Norwich — City firefighters on Thursday extinguished a fire in a second-floor apartment at 321 Main St., known as the Alice Building.
First reported at 4:20 p.m., firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the second-floor window and forced their way into the apartment to find a smoky kitchen fire. The fire was brought under control within about 15 minutes.
One firefighter suffered a minor injury during the response. The fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
