New London police: Man assaulted on Thanksgiving has died
New London — The man who was assaulted in the apartments at 127 Hempstead St. Thursday has died, according to police.
Police said Marlon Beasley, 38, of 127 Hempstead St., Apt. 311, died Monday evening at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Police had found him in the Williams Park Apartment complex at about 3:34 a.m. Thursday with serious facial and head injuries.
Police said the charges against Edgar Sanchez-Valencia, also known as "Panama," 44, of 127 Hempstead St., Apt. 407, will be modified when he appears in New London Superior Court.
Sanchez-Valencia previously had been charged with second-degree assault in connection with Beasley's injuries.
Sanchez-Valencia was being held on a $200,000 cash surety bond and was due to appear in court Tuesday.
The Williams Park Apartments, owned by the New London Housing Authority, are federally subsidized and designated for seniors and/or those who are disabled.
