Groton — Police released the name of the pedestrian who died Thursday evening after being struck by a vehicle on Crystal Lake Road.

In a release issued late Friday night, town police said the man was 80-year-old John Brouwer Sr. of Groton. Police said he was walking across the road when he was struck. He was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Groton Town police, Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department and Groton Ambulance responded to the scene, according to the release. Police said the incident is still under investigation and no further details were available.
