New London — Three people were arrested after an alleged near-miss in the New London Shopping Center parking lot led to an argument in which a man reportedly brandished a gun.

The incident occurred about 11:36 a.m. Friday. According to a police investigation, one vehicle was backing out of a parking space when it nearly hit another vehicle, angering the occupants.

Words and threats were exchanged, police said, and those in the vehicle allegedly kicked and punched the vehicle that was backing out. The man in that vehicle responded by brandishing a weapon, police said.

Kevin Brown, 37, of 33 Brainard St., New London, was charged with second-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace. His firearm and state pistol permit were seized and forwarded to state authorities for review.

Michael Acoff, 24, of 59 Boulder Drive, New London, was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree breach of peace.

Robin Neal, 27, of 59 Boulder Drive, New London, was charged with second-degree breach of peace.
